About Us
Numéro 13 is a shop built on one person's eye. Every piece on these rails was chosen by hand, one at a time, in showrooms in Paris and at fairs around the world — never from a catalogue, never because a brand pushed it, never because an algorithm said it would sell.
Eighteen years on these streets
Elise Shnaiderman opened her first shop on the fourteenth of January 2008, on Shenkin Street. It was called Elise. Two years later she moved it to Neve Tzedek — the first neighbourhood built outside Jaffa, and still the most beautiful few streets in Tel Aviv — and has never left since. In 2014 the shop took a new name, Numéro 13. In 2024 it moved up the road from Shabazi 13 to number 38, the light blue building, where the clothing has been ever since.
Shops in this city come and go quickly. We have dressed some of our customers for sixteen years.
Why thirteen
Elise's first son was born on a thirteenth. For six years the shop carried her own name; in 2014 she gave it his number, and it has been dedicated to him ever since.
Most of the world treats thirteen as a number to avoid. Jewish tradition does the opposite — it is the age at which a child comes into their own, and the count of the attributes of mercy. A fashion house called Numéro 13 would be unthinkable in Paris. Here it made perfect sense.
Three doors on Shabazi
Today Numéro 13 is three adjacent doors on the same street. Number 38 holds the clothing. Number 30א is given entirely to GAS Bijoux, the Marseille jewellery house we represent exclusively in Israel. Number 30ב is Numéro 13 Jewelry, our multi-brand jewellery shop. One street, three rooms, three teams who know their customers by name — you can dress completely without crossing a road.
How the shop is curated
Elise is Parisian, and she chooses the way a Parisian chooses: slowly, in person, and deliberately against the grain of what everyone else is carrying. Several times a year she travels — Paris above all, and the showrooms and fairs wherever the work takes her — selecting each season some seven months before it reaches the rail. The summer dress you try on in March was ordered from a sample the previous summer, on the strength of a hand on the cloth and a feeling about who would wear it.
Nothing is bought in volume. Often it is a single piece per size. That is why things sell out, and why you are unlikely to meet yourself at dinner.
What you will not find elsewhere in Israel
Forte Forte. Mes Demoiselles. Essentiel Antwerp. Vanessa Bruno. Diega. Bellerose. And some sixty other houses, nearly all of which we carry alone in this country. Being the only stockist means we introduce each brand to Israel ourselves — and it means what hangs on our rails hangs nowhere else here.
The point of all of it
A shop like this exists for one particular moment: the piece you did not come in for, did not know existed, and that changes the shape of your day the moment you put it on. That is what Elise is looking for in every showroom, and it is the only reason to curate the way we do.

What is online is a selection, not the whole shop. A great deal of what hangs on Shabazi never makes it to the website — single pieces, things that arrive and sell the same week. To see everything, you have to come in.
